The water department is providing $200,000 from its surplus to be used to restore and clean up water flow for the Easterbrook Park area on the North Side on April 17.
The flood of water also allowed the department to use the new lake water to clean up the stormwater diversion pipe in the neighborhood of Teolapo on November 20 and the City of Los Angeles Parks Department will spend $120,000 to provide stormwater diversion to an existing stormwater system. This will allow residents in the area to receive clean water from the lake and provide a safer and more reliable source of water for park purposes.
The water department will provide these funds in addition to other public donations.
Garden of the Holy Virgin Mary, Los Angeles
The water department will spend $100,000 to provide the City of Los Angeles, on behalf of the Catholic Archdiocese of Los Angeles, with $25,000 to assist in installing a garden area in the Garden of Mary Parish in Garden Grove for children who are unable to perform their Catholic baptism ceremony.
The garden will be dedicated to the parishioners and their families who were displaced by the earthquake.
A memorial in the church courtyard and a memorial garden to those who lost loved ones in the earthquake on the Garden of Mary Church’s South Lawn will be installed later in January.
“The Garden of Mary was a great parish which suffered great damage,” said Father Steven Brown, general director of the Church of the Holy Virgin Mary in Garden of the Holy Virgin Mary. “This program provides a great opportunity for families to remember that they are part of our parish and have been, and the Church wants to do everything we can to support the church during this difficult period.”
A memorial garden of 50 feet by 75 feet will be installed on the South Lawn by Feb. 27 and a memorial fountain in the church courtyard will be installed later in 2017. The memorial fountain will be a memorial to all the children who lost a family member to the earthquake. It will be located on the south-pylon in front of the altar, in a park right on the south face of the church, next to the memoria일산출장안마l fountain.
