She told the crowd: ‘What we do in education is important and should not be forgotten. We could not put in the time and effort without having that sort of impact, but we didn’t do it without you all at Oldbury Road.
‘It’s no different for me. It took me years to build my skills, get myself into a position to become a director. I did it from the bottom and now I’m here to put the finishing touches on this beautiful park. It’s going to be fantastic to put a statue and plaque in it and to have the children come and play.’

The image shows the ‘Dinosaur Park’ in the hands of a child as part of a series of events called ‘Dino’s Day’ for St Joseph’s Day (in the UK).
The park opened in the 1980s on Oldbury Road and was later moved to the nearby town of Oldbury Road, where it remained until being demolished in 2012.

The park was dedicated to Mr Tiptree when he began to manage it as director.
The former schoolmaster turned the park into a popular venue for children, creating a community hub which is still running today.
Mr Tiptree was forced to step down from director in 2013 after the council ruled a complaint against him was not merit based.
In December of 2012, a spokesman for Eastbourne Civic Centre said that there were currently plans to erect a statue in the park.
‘With the unveiling of a new statue and plaque, I’m pleased to welcome T.K. Tiptree to Oldbury Road,’ said a spokesman for the centre.
